The Navy Point Elementary project consisted of a new media center, art room, music room and renovations to 17 classrooms. The media center portion of the project was an adaptive reuse of the original 1958 kitchen and cafeteria into a modern media center. The former cafeteria space was converted into the open stack room with the director’s office and technical processing room. In addition, The stage was demolished and converted into the School’s television studio and control room. The faculty library and the group projects room are located in the old kitchen area.
The new media center features state-of-the-art electric media instruction equipment. The classroom project consisted of the renovation of a two story classroom wing, initially constructed in 1958. The former media center and television studio was converted into an Art room with Kiln and a Music room. Finally, the classrooms were completely refinished with new suspended acoustical ceilings, paint, doors, and flooring.
Completed: June 2008
